B is for?

Hello, friends! Felipe Femur the skeleton here, again. As I said with the letter A post, for each letter in the English Alphabet we can pick a word. Then I will teach you the Spanish translation. We’ll also do this the other way around. I’ll pick a Spanish word that starts with each letter and teach you the English translation. Today’s letter is B!

.

B is for Book

I don’t know about you, but the first word that comes to my mind for B is “book.” Who doesn’t love a good book? There are so many good stories to read in books. There are so many adventures to be had in those pages! I also use the books to attract bookworms. In Toonstone bookworms are the juiciest and most delicious of all worms. Er, you probably like books without worms, huh? Judging from the look on your face, I’m going to guess that bookworm means something else from where you’re from. Lost in translation… We’ll have to discuss that another time. We’re here to learn Spanish, after all.

Book in Spanish is “libro,” or more correctly, “el libro.” Can you say “el libro?” Nice job! To say “books” in Spanish you’d say, “los libros.” Try it with me: “los libros!” One more time: “los libros!” Great job, friend!

B is for Botas

The first Spanish word I think of for B is “botas,” or “las botas.” Do you know what las botas means? I’ll describe some botas and see if you can guess. Botas are good for walking up mountains and in the snow. Botas have laces to hold them on. Botas are worn on the feet, mostly in rainy or snowy weather. That right! Las botas means “boots.” Very nice!

Try and use the words “el libro” and “las botas” instead of “book” and “boots” today. If you feel like learning even more now, you can move on to the letter C. Adios for now!
